Omron CQM1 Advanced Training

This two (2) day seminar is intended for those persons with prior PLC experience. The
class provides extensive “hands-on” training with the actual PLC equipment and covers
several applications. Specialty hardware and more advanced programming issues are
covered. Students will be expected to write functional PLC programs as part of the
presented labs. Students should be familiar with the use of the Omron PLC Software
and basic hardware.

A. INTRODUCTION TO HERMITAGE AND OMRON
B. CQM1 PLC GENERAL REVIEW
    1) PLC internal structure and terminology.
    2) CQM1 hardware system and CPU configuration.
    3) Standard Input and Output module descriptions and use.
    4) Specialty hardware modules.
    5) Review of memory storage and addressing.
    6) Different memory areas available.
C. REVIEW OF BASIC PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS and SOFTWARE
    1) Programming software use review.
    2) Basic instructions.
    3) Timer and Counter instructions.
    4) Application #1 - Using basic instructions.
    5) Function Instructions use.
    6) Basic lab #1 – Sequence control.
D. PROGRAM CONTROL FUNCTIONS
    1) Use of IL and ILC functions.
    2) Use of Subroutines.
E. HIGH SPEED COUNTER INPUTS AND USE
    1) High Speed counter inputs description and wiring.
    2) High Speed Input Lab #1 – Block Compare.
    3) High Speed Input Lab #2 – Flow meter simulation.

    1) Analog Input module hardware installation and set-up.

C. DATA LINK FUNCTION
    1) Data link concept and cabling.
    2) Data Link Lab#1 – Data transfer between two PLCs.
D. SERIAL COMMUNICATION
    1) Concept of serial communication with the CQM1.
    2) Serial Communication lab #1 – Transmitting data from the serial port.
